Dr Megan Patterson

15+ years of experience

Dr Megan Patterson is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist who works with individuals across the lifespan, including teenagers, adults, and families. She has extensive experience working within primary care and community settings, supporting people through a wide range of emotional, social, and developmental challenges. Megan’s work is grounded in a compassionate, collaborative approach that helps clients make sense of their experiences, build resilience, and move towards what matters most to them.

Megan works with individuals experiencing anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, low mood, complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship difficulties, and identity-related concerns, including gender identity and neurodiversity such as ADHD and autism. She also supports people affected by stress, burnout, boundary difficulties, unhealthy or toxic relationships, feelings of exclusion or not fitting in, and pressures related to school, university, or early adulthood.

Alongside individual therapy, Megan has strong experience working with young people and families. She is particularly skilled at building safe, trusting therapeutic relationships with young people who may feel wary of services or who have had difficult or inconsistent experiences of support in the past. Her work with adolescents and families draws on trauma-informed, attachment-based, narrative, and systemic approaches, always adapted carefully to the needs of each young person and their wider context.

Megan has held leadership roles within NHS services supporting both adolescents and adults, where she has led teams, facilitated reflective spaces for staff, and provided supervision to practitioners. She brings a strong commitment to social inclusion and has a thoughtful understanding of the pressures people face around identity, safety, belonging, relationships, and future direction.

Her therapeutic practice integrates a range of evidence-based approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), trauma-informed and attachment-based models, integrative psychological therapies, and community-focused approaches such as AMBIT. This allows Megan to work flexibly, combining psychological insight with practical support around self-care, boundaries, coping strategies, and building healthier relationships.

Megan’s therapeutic style is warm, down-to-earth, and genuinely collaborative. She offers a respectful, supportive space in which clients feel understood, while gently helping them develop greater clarity, confidence, and more sustainable ways of navigating life’s challenges.

If you feel that working with Megan may be helpful for you or for a young person you care about, please get in touch with the team.
