Dr Paul Mallett

Consultant Psychiatrist

30+ years of experience

Dr Paul Mallett is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with over three decades of work in general adult mental health. He has spent many years working at senior consultant level and brings a depth of clinical knowledge that comes from long-standing practice across a wide range of psychiatric presentations.

Dr Mallett has extensive experience working with adults presenting with everything from mild to complex and severe mental health difficulties. His clinical work includes depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and presentations involving significant emotional, psychological, and social complexity. He is particularly experienced in working with individuals whose difficulties do not fit neatly into a single diagnostic category and who require thoughtful, integrative psychiatric assessment and care.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Mallett has held senior leadership positions within the NHS, including serving as Medical Director of an NHS Trust. Through these roles, he has developed a strong understanding of mental health services at both individual and systemic levels. He continues to undertake consultancy work within NHS organisations, contributing his expertise to the understanding of complex clinical situations and service-level learning following serious incidents.

Dr Mallett qualified from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in 1985 and was appointed as a Consultant Psychiatrist in 1993, at which point he became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act, reflecting his specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders. He remains in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, engages in ongoing continuing professional development, and participates in regular peer supervision. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council.

Dr Mallett’s work is characterised by clinical depth, careful judgement, and a thoughtful, experienced approach to adult psychiatry.
