Dr Prarthana Shetty

15+ years of experience

Dr Prarthana Shetty works with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, shame, grief and loss, low mood, self-esteem difficulties, life transitions, adjustment difficulties, trauma, neurodivergence, and questions relating to faith, spirituality, identity, and belonging. She supports clients whose difficulties may be shaped by earlier experiences, attachment patterns, cultural context, relationships, professional pressures, or the challenge of navigating different parts of themselves in daily life.

Prarthana is a Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience across both NHS and private settings. She holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and brings particular expertise in attachment, trauma, intersectional identity, and neurodivergence. Her clinical experience allows her to work thoughtfully with clients whose difficulties may be layered, sensitive, or connected to the way personal history, culture, relationships, and identity intersect.

Prarthana works with presentations ranging from everyday stress and anxiety through to complex trauma and identity-related difficulties. She is particularly skilled in supporting individuals navigating the psychological impact of cultural, social, faith-based, or neurodiverse identities within their personal, relational, and professional lives. Her work helps clients understand how earlier experiences and relational patterns may still be shaping the present, while developing more effective ways of responding to themselves, others, and the pressures around them.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative and flexible, drawing on evidence-based models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She uses these approaches thoughtfully to tailor therapy to each client’s needs, goals, and circumstances, supporting both deeper understanding and practical change.

Prarthana’s style is collaborative, compassionate, reflective, and clinically grounded. She offers a discreet and carefully tailored approach for clients who want therapy to be thoughtful, focused, and personally meaningful. She helps clients clarify what they want to change, understand the patterns keeping difficulties in place, and develop psychological strategies they can use beyond sessions. Her work supports clients to build emotional resilience, strengthen confidence, make clearer decisions, and move towards change in ways that feel aligned with their values.
