Coaching
Sometimes you don’t need therapy. You need a focused space to think clearly, make decisions, and move forward. Coaching can be a good fit when you’re functioning reasonably well but want help with direction, performance, confidence, or creating change that actually sticks.
People often come to coaching when they’re carrying a lot: leadership pressure, responsibility, perfectionism, demanding work, big decisions, or a sense of being stuck despite knowing what they “should” do. Coaching is not about fixing you. It’s about helping you build clarity, momentum, and a steadier way of working and living.
At Hampstead Psychology, we offer coaching in London and online across the UK. Our approach is structured, psychologically informed, and practical.
This page is for information and does not replace a clinical assessment, diagnosis, or medical advice.
When coaching starts to feel relevant
You might recognise some of these experiences:
-
You’re performing well, but it takes too much effort and you’re running on adrenaline.
-
You procrastinate, overthink, or struggle to follow through, even with clear goals.
-
You feel stretched by responsibility and want a steadier way of managing pressure.
-
You want to improve confidence, communication, or leadership impact.
-
You’re facing a career decision and keep going in circles.
-
You feel stuck in habits that don’t match the life you want.
-
You want clearer boundaries and a better work-life balance.
-
You’re productive, but not fulfilled, and you want a sense of direction.
-
You’re recovering from burnout and want to rebuild sustainably.
-
You want support that is focused on action, not endless analysis.
Coaching can help you create change without turning life into a problem to solve. It’s about moving forward with clarity and intent.
How coaching can help
Clarity, direction, and decision-making
Coaching gives you a space to slow down and think clearly. We help you clarify what matters, make decisions you can stand behind, and reduce the noise of overthinking and external pressure.
Follow-through, habits, and sustainable routines
Many people don’t struggle with knowledge, they struggle with implementation. Coaching helps you design structures that reduce friction, improve consistency, and support follow-through in a way that fits real life.
Confidence, communication, and leadership
Coaching can help with self-doubt, imposter feelings, difficult conversations, assertiveness, visibility, and leadership presence. The aim isn’t a new persona. It’s a steadier internal base, so you can show up with more calm and authority.
Pressure, performance, and balance
High performance is easier to sustain when it isn’t built on fear. Coaching helps you work with perfectionism, manage pressure, protect recovery, and build a style of achievement that doesn’t cost you your wellbeing.

Related difficulties we often see alongside coaching goals
Even when coaching is the right fit, people often notice themes such as stress, overwork, sleep disruption, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or low confidence. Sometimes these are best addressed through coaching. Sometimes they suggest therapy would be more appropriate.
We’ll help you choose the right pathway for you.
Coaching vs therapy: what we offer
Coaching is goal-focused and forward-looking. It’s designed for people who want support with performance, habits, decision-making, confidence, leadership, or life direction.
Therapy is more appropriate when you’re experiencing significant mental health difficulties such as persistent depression, debilitating anxiety, trauma symptoms, significant risk concerns, or when you want focused clinical work on longstanding emotional patterns.
Coaching is not a diagnostic service and is not a substitute for mental health treatment. If it becomes clear that therapy would better meet your needs, we’ll discuss options with you.

What coaching sessions are like
We start with what you want and what’s getting in the way. We clarify goals, identify the patterns that block progress, and build an approach that is practical and tailored.
Sessions are structured and active. You’ll leave with clear priorities and specific actions to take away. We review what happened between sessions and refine the plan so you keep moving forward without relying on willpower alone.
How long does coaching take?
This varies depending on your goals. Some people choose a short focused block around a particular decision or project. Others prefer ongoing support over a longer period, especially when working on habits, leadership development, or sustainable performance.
We review progress regularly so coaching stays purposeful and aligned with what you want.
Coaching in Hampstead and online
We offer coaching in person in London and online across the UK. Many people prefer online sessions for convenience, and it can work extremely well when you have a private space to focus.
