Dr Nina Welsh
15+ years of experience
Dr Nina Welsh works with adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and grief. She is particularly skilled in supporting clients to process traumatic experiences, reduce the impact of distressing memories or patterns, regain a sense of control, and rebuild confidence in themselves and their lives.
Nina is an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist and BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. She qualified as a Counselling Psychologist with first-class honours in 2010 before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, alongside further specialist training in Interpersonal Therapy and EMDR. Across her career, she has worked in a wide range of mental health settings and has held Clinical Lead and Senior Clinical Lead roles within a national mental health service, combining senior leadership with extensive hands-on therapeutic practice.
Nina works with a broad range of psychological difficulties, including trauma, anxiety disorders, stress, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, relational difficulties, and grief. Her senior clinical background gives her strong experience in working with complexity and in helping clients understand how past experiences, current pressures, relationships, and coping patterns may be affecting their wellbeing.
Her therapeutic work is informed by a wide range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Activation, EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention, Interpersonal Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Life-Story Work. Nina works carefully within NICE-recommended frameworks, tailoring therapy to each client’s needs, goals, and circumstances while ensuring treatment remains clinically appropriate and evidence-based.
Nina’s style is warm, collaborative, clear, and clinically grounded. She offers a discreet and carefully tailored approach for adults who want therapy to be focused, purposeful, and practically useful. She helps clients clarify what they want to change, understand the patterns keeping difficulties in place, and develop effective psychological strategies they can use beyond sessions. Her work supports clients to reduce distress, strengthen resilience, improve confidence, and move forward with greater clarity and stability.
