Dr Paul Lewis

15+ years of experience

Dr Paul Lewis works with adults, older teenagers, and couples experiencing depression, trauma, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, OCD, health anxiety, phobias, panic, insomnia, stress, relationship difficulties, and the pressures that can come with demanding personal or professional lives. He supports clients who want therapy to be thoughtful, focused, and responsive to their goals, whether they are looking to reduce symptoms, understand recurring patterns, improve relationships, or develop more effective ways of coping and moving forward.

Paul is an experienced Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of clinical practice across both NHS and private settings. Alongside his client work, he provides clinical supervision to other psychologists, reflecting his commitment to high standards of professional practice and ongoing development within the field. He offers therapy both online and face-to-face, bringing a flexible and clinically grounded approach to his work with individuals and couples.

Before training as a psychologist, Paul worked in current affairs and public relations. This background gives him valuable insight into the realities of demanding workplaces, complex interpersonal dynamics, high-pressure environments, and organisational politics. He often draws on this understanding when working with professionals, executives, and couples navigating the psychological and relational demands of modern working life.

Paul’s therapeutic practice draws on a broad range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Couples Counselling. This breadth allows him to tailor therapy carefully to each client’s needs, preferences, and goals, while keeping the work clinically robust and practically useful.

Paul’s style is clear, thoughtful, pragmatic, and supportive. He helps individuals and couples clarify what they want to change, understand the patterns keeping difficulties in place, and develop practical psychological strategies they can apply beyond sessions. Depending on what is most useful, his work may be structured and skills-based or more reflective and exploratory, always with the aim of helping clients reduce distress, improve communication and relationships, build confidence, strengthen resilience, and make meaningful, sustainable changes in their lives.
