Silvia Miranda
20+ years of experience
Silvia Miranda is a Consultant Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience across the NHS and private practice in London. She works with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, insomnia, OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobias, general worry, and difficulties linked to eating, body image, perfectionism, self-criticism, or a need to feel in control. She supports clients to understand what is keeping difficulties in place, reduce distress, and develop clearer, more effective ways of coping.
Silvia has substantial experience supporting professionals in demanding roles and adults managing the pressures of modern London life. She understands the emotional impact of responsibility, sustained performance, long mental to-do lists, and trying to hold everything together for other people. She also has particular awareness of the challenges that can come with becoming a new parent, raising young children, and balancing family life with work, relationships, and personal wellbeing.
Alongside her private practice work, Silvia has held senior NHS roles and has a strong background in trauma-informed practice. She has contributed to the development of trauma-informed services and supported teams working in high-pressure environments. This gives her a careful understanding of how trauma, anxiety, professional pressure, family demands, and perfectionistic patterns can interact.
Silvia integrates evidence-based models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness approaches, and trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR, alongside other psychological approaches where helpful. She is HCPC registered and a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She works in English and is also fluent in Portuguese, with Spanish at an intermediate level.
Silvia’s style is calm, thoughtful, collaborative, and clinically grounded. She offers a discreet and carefully tailored approach for adults who want therapy to be focused, well paced, and practically useful. She helps clients clarify what they want to change, understand the patterns keeping difficulties going, and develop psychological strategies they can apply beyond sessions. Her work supports clients to feel more in control, manage pressure more effectively, and move forward with greater clarity, steadiness, and confidence.
