Silvia Miranda

Silvia Miranda is a Consultant Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience across the NHS and private practice in London. She offers a calm, thoughtful, and evidence-based approach, helping adults make sense of what has been happening, reduce distress, and feel more in control again.
At Hampstead Psychology, Silvia works with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, insomnia and obsessive compulsive difficulties. She also supports clients with health anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobias, general worry, and difficulties linked to eating, body image, perfectionism, self-criticism, or a need to feel in control. Her approach is collaborative and carefully tailored, so therapy feels containing, practical, and well paced.
Silvia understands the pressures many adults face in modern London life, including demanding jobs, long mental to-do lists, and trying to hold everything together for other people. She has particular awareness of the challenges that can come with becoming a new parent, raising young children, and balancing family life with work, relationships, and the constant feeling of being pulled in multiple directions. Therapy can offer space to step out of survival mode, think more clearly, and find a steadier, more manageable way forward.
Silvia has substantial experience supporting professionals in demanding roles. Alongside her private practice work, Silvia has held senior NHS roles and has a strong background in trauma-informed practice, contributing to the development of trauma-informed services and supporting teams working in high-pressure environments. She integrates evidence-based models including CBT, ACT, Mindfulness approaches, and trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR, alongside other psychological approaches where helpful. The focus is always on understanding the patterns that keep difficulties going and developing practical, emotionally grounded ways to shift them.
Silvia is HCPC registered and is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She works in English and is also fluent in Portuguese, with Spanish at an intermediate level.
