Gemma Lutwyche is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She qualified in 2001 and has worked with people of all ages across both NHS and private settings. Within the NHS, Gemma held senior roles at Highly Specialist, Principal, and Consultant levels, where she managed teams of psychologists and provided supervision and training, combining strong clinical leadership with depth of therapeutic expertise.
Gemma works with children, adults, couples, and families, supporting a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. She takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on different evidence-based models to develop treatment plans that are clear, focused, and tailored to each individual or family’s needs. Her specialist interests include mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties, and perinatal psychology. She has extensive experience supporting parents during pregnancy and the transition to family life.
Her therapeutic work is informed by a broad range of psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Behavioural Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Systemic Therapy, Couples Counselling, Life-Story Work, Reminiscence Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. This breadth enables Gemma to work flexibly and adapt therapy to the evolving needs of her clients.
Clients often describe Gemma as warm, clear, and supportive. She creates a safe, collaborative therapeutic environment where difficulties can be explored openly and thoughtfully.
