Gemma Lutwyche

20+ years of experience

Gemma Lutwyche is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. She qualified in 2001 and has worked with people of all ages across both the NHS and private practice. Within the NHS she held senior posts at Highly Specialist, Principal levels and Consultant level, where she managed teams of psychologists and provided supervision and training, bringing both leadership and clinical expertise to her work.

Gemma supports children, adults, couples, and families with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. She works integratively, combining different evidence-based approaches to create treatment plans that are clear, focused, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Her areas of specialist interest include mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, trauma, attachment and relationship issues, and perinatal psychology, where she has extensive experience supporting parents during the transition to family life.

She is trained in a broad range of therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Activation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Couples Counselling, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Life-Story Work, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Reminiscence Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Systemic Therapy. This breadth allows her to offer a flexible, personalised approach that adapts to the needs of each client.

Clients describe Gemma as warm, clear, and supportive. She creates a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment where difficulties can be explored openly and strategies for meaningful change can be developed. Her aim is always to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen resilience, and move towards positive and lasting change.
