Dr Prarthana Shetty

15+ years of experience

Dr Prarthana Shetty is a Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience across both NHS and private settings. She holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and has worked with clients facing a wide range of difficulties, including life transitions and adjustment, anxiety, shame, grief and loss, issues around faith and spirituality, low mood, and self-esteem concerns. She has a particular interest in attachment, trauma, intersectional identity, and neurodivergence, areas where she combines professional expertise with sensitivity and insight.

Prarthana is trained in a range of evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. She integrates these models flexibly, ensuring therapy is adapted to the needs of each individual. Whilst therapeutic techniques are important, her overarching focus is on providing an attuned relational experience, where clients can make sense of their past and integrate it into a more authentic and fulfilling present.

Her style is collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgmental. She describes therapy as “a space that is compassionate and non-judgemental. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the elements that may be maintaining their difficulties.” By offering both empathy and gentle challenge, she supports clients in developing greater self-understanding and moving towards lives that are more aligned with their values.

Prarthana works with adults and young people on a wide range of issues, from everyday stress and anxiety to complex trauma and identity concerns. She is particularly skilled at supporting those who are navigating the impact of cultural, social, or neurodiverse identities within their personal and professional lives.

Clients value her ability to create a safe and reflective therapeutic space where they feel truly heard and understood. Her goal is always to support people in developing clarity, resilience, and the confidence to move towards change in a way that feels meaningful and authentic.
