15+ years of experience
Dr Nina Welsh is a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist and a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 15 years of experience. She qualified as a Counselling Psychologist with first-class honours in 2010 before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, and further specialist training in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Over her career, Nina has worked in a variety of mental health settings, serving as a Clinical Lead and most recently as Senior Clinical Lead within a national mental health service. These roles have equipped her with extensive expertise in clinical leadership as well as direct therapeutic practice.
Nina works with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, stress, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, and grief. She is particularly skilled in helping clients process traumatic experiences, regain a sense of control, and rebuild confidence in themselves and their lives.
She is trained in a broad range of evidence-based therapies, including Behavioural Activation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Life Story Work, Narrative Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). By drawing on this breadth of approaches, Nina ensures therapy is tailored to each individual’s needs, clinically appropriate, and aligned with NICE-recommended treatments. She is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engages with the latest research and training to ensure her practice remains evidence-based and of the highest quality.
Nina’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. She holds people at the centre of her work, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings. Clients describe her as compassionate and genuine, with an ability to combine professional expertise with practical, personalised strategies for lasting change.
Outside of her professional role, Nina enjoys spending time with her family, walking her two dogs, yoga, keeping fit, and seeing friends. She values balance and wellbeing in her own life and brings this perspective into her work with clients.
