Dr Paul Lewis
15+ years of experience
Dr Paul Lewis is an experienced Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of clinical practice across both NHS and private settings. Alongside his client work, he provides clinical supervision to other psychologists, reflecting his commitment to high standards of professional practice and ongoing development within the field. Paul works with adults and older teenagers and offers therapy both online and face-to-face, bringing a flexible and thoughtful approach to his work.
Paul supports a wide range of psychological difficulties, including depression, trauma, social and generalised anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, phobias, panic, and insomnia. His work is grounded in psychological research while remaining responsive to each client’s individual style, preferences, and goals. Depending on what is most helpful, Paul may offer structured, skills-based interventions or a more counselling-informed approach that allows space for reflection, understanding, and emotional processing.
His therapeutic practice draws on training in a broad range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Behavioural Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, and Couples Counselling. This breadth enables Paul to work flexibly, helping clients manage symptoms effectively while also exploring underlying patterns and building longer-term resilience.
Before training as a psychologist, Paul worked in current affairs and public relations. This background has given him valuable insight into the realities of demanding workplaces, complex interpersonal dynamics, high-pressure environments, and organisational politics. He often draws on this experience when working with professionals, executives, and individuals navigating the pressures of modern working life.
Clients frequently describe Paul as clear, thoughtful, and pragmatic. He combines practical strategies with a supportive therapeutic relationship, helping people reduce distress, build confidence, and move forward in meaningful and sustainable ways.
